Calling All Rice Letterwinners: Your Experience Matters

Rice Owls of Color United (ROC-U) and ARUBA are hosting a Golf Clinic & Networking Lunch on April 17, 2026, and we need YOU there.

WHY? Because current student-athletes need to hear from people who've successfully navigated the transition from college athletics to professional careers.

The Format:

Golf Clinic (9:30-10:30 AM) Get introduced to golf side-by-side with current student-athletes. Golf is a lifelong sport that facilitates countless business relationships and opportunities.

Professional instruction will be provided for all skill levels.

Networking Lunch (11:00 AM-12:00 PM) Share your story. Answer their questions. Provide the mentorship you wish you'd had during your transition.

As letterwinners, we understand the unique challenges athletes face:

  • Identity shifts after competition ends

  • Translating athletic achievements to professional settings

  • Building networks outside of sports

  • Managing time and expectations differently

This is our opportunity to give back and build a stronger pipeline of support for the next generation of Rice athletes. If you're a Rice letterwinner and/or an ARUBA member, please consider attending. Your presence matters.

Lessons will be led by Maulana Dotch, PGA and LPGA Teaching Professional and General Manager of Hermann Park Golf Course, who is known for creating an encouraging learning environment for golfers at every level.

Golf is Life!

🔑 Maintaining equilibrium, avoiding excessive highs and lows, is key to consistency.

Katt Williams shares his passion for golf and how it mirrors life's journey. He explains that golf presents 18 challenges with obstacles and hazards, requiring navigation with skill and care.

🌳 Williams believes mastering this mindset on the golf course translates to success in other areas of life. Past successes don't guarantee future ones; staying focused is essential.
